My name is Charlisse Green. The reason that I am writing to you is because when I was nine years old, I had an accident on my bicycle. I rode down a hill, fell and broke my jaw and teeth. The doctor told m mom that he would help her to fix everything, but they didn’t fix it right. I really need your help to get my mouth fixed so that I can begin to talk right again and to look normal.
The main reason that I need your help is because I am tired of people talking about me and my mouth. They hurt my feelings, but I don’t say anything to them anymore. I just try to keep going. Now, I am 17 years old. My mother asked me if I had any friends at school and I told her that I have ‘someone to talk to’. I say that because one minute, they are my friend, and the next, they talk behind my back, calling me names and picking at the way I talk and look. When I talk, it sounds like I am deaf because of the way that my mouth is. As a result, I have been placed in special classes at school.
I have faith that you will help me. Some of the things that you do make me cry because they touch my heart. I am praying that you will be able to make my wish come true because I am tired of people talking about me everyday. When I look in the mirror, I see who I am, but no one else can see the real me. They talk about me everyday. Not one day, but EVERY day. So, I decided to write on my own, hoping that you and your staff will find it in your hearts to help me. If you only knew how I feel, I know that you will help me.
People say that I am ugly. Sometimes, I don’t care what they say because I know that someday, I will be somebody that I can be proud of, and will make my mother proud. Thank you now for what I hope that you will be able to do for me in the future.
